A man was killed in a shooting Monday night in west suburban Belwood.

Officers were called about a person shot at 9:23 p.m. in the 2400 block of Randolph Avenue in Bellwood, according to a statement from Bellwood police. The arrived to find 21-year-old Solomon Russell III with gunshot wounds.

Russell, who also lived in Bellwoo, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead at 9:40 p.m., police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said. An autopsy Tuesday found he died from his wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.

Police and the West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force were investigating the shooting.
