A man was stabbed to death by his son early Wednesday in the Hyde Park neighborhood on the South Side.

Daniel M. Luchins, 69, was stabbed in the chest by his adult son during a fight at 3 a.m. in the 5300 block of South Shore Drive, Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Luchins, who lived in the same neighborhood, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. An autopsy Thursday found Luchins died of multiple stab and incised wounds in an assault, and his death was ruled a homicide.

The suspect was taken into custody, police said.

No further information was immediately available as Area Central detectives conducted a homicide investigation.
