A security guard was arrested after firing his gun during an argument Friday night outside a restaurant in the Archer Heights neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

About 10:40 p.m., the security guard and a man were arguing in the 5200 block of South Archer Avenue, Chicago Police said. The guard pulled out a weapon and shot it toward the ground. A piece of asphalt flew up and struck the other man in his abdomen.

He refused medical treatment, police said.

The guard was in custody Friday night, and a misdemeanor charge of reckless conduct was pending against him, according to police sources. The incident happened at the restaurant Mariscos El Kora at 5207 S. Archer Ave.
