A 28-year-old man was shot early Friday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

About 12:45 a.m., the man was inside a vehicle when he was shot in his back in the 5500 block of South Emerald Avenue, according to Chicago Police.

He showed up at University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was in serious condition, police said.

Area South detectives were investigating the shooting.
