A man was shot Sunday night in the West Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.

The 32-year-old was standing on a sidewalk about 11:05 p.m. in the 6200 block of South Vernon Avenue when someone approached him and fired shots, according to Chicago Police.

The man was hit in his leg, and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition stabilized, police said.

Area Central detectives were investigating the shooting.
