A 16-year-old boy was shot to death Saturday evening in Belmont Central neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

About 7:10 p.m., Jesus A. Lopez was in the 5900 block of West Diversey Avenue when someone exited a vehicle parked in an alley, approached the boy and fired several shots, Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Lopez was struck in his chest and arms, and died later at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, authorities said.

He lived in the same neighborhood where he was killed.

An autopsy Sunday afternoon found Lopez died from multiple gunshot wounds. His death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Area North detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
