A 35-year-old man was fatally wounded in a shooting Tuesday evening in the Cottage Grove Heights neighborhood on the Far South Side.

About 5:30 p.m., Maurice Stevenson was standing near his vehicle in the 9800 block of South Woodlawn when he was shot in his face, side and leg in what may have been a drive-by attack, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Stevenson, who lived in the same neighborhood, was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died at 6:04 p.m., authorities said.

Area South detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
