One of two men wounded in a drive-by shooting Tuesday evening in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side has died.

The men were sitting on the sidewalk about 6:25 p.m. in the first block of South Springfield when a male jumped out of a black sedan and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

Eric Hodges, 24, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 4:58 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Hodges lived in the Bucktown neighborhood on the North Side, authorities said.

The 26-year-old older man was shot in his left arm and was also taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.

Area North detectives were investigating.
