A man was shot and wounded Sunday night in the Hyde Park neighborhood on the South Side.

About 11:45 p.m., the 37-year-old was walking on a sidewalk in the 1200 block of East 52nd Street when two people approached him and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, police said. His condition had stabilized.

Area Central detectives were investigating the shooting.
