A 39-year-old man was wounded in a shooting Tuesday night on the South Side.

The man was walking about 8:05 p.m. in the 7000 block of South Jeffery when another male walked up and shot him in the torso, according to Chicago police.

He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
