A 27-year-old man was killed in a shooting Friday afternoon in the Englewood neighborhood, police said.

Demonte Richardson, 27, was riding in a car about 2:50 p.m. in the 7000 block of South Sangamon when someone fired at the vehicle, according to Chicago police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. He was shot in the chest and arm.

His cousin drove him to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Police were conducting a homicide investigation.
