A man was electrocuted when he fell from a CTA platform onto the third rail early Tuesday in the Lincoln Park neighborhood on the North Side.

The man, who has not been identified, fell from the platform onto the tracks at the Fullerton station at 1:37 a.m. in the 900 block of West Fullerton, according to Chicago police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

An autopsy Tuesday found he died of electrocution by falling on the third rail and his death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Normal service had resumed by about 6 a.m., according to the CTA.
