A man was wounded in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The 34-year-old was standing on the street with a group of people just before 4 p.m. in the 700 block of West 66th Place when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, according to Chicago police. The vehicle then took off westbound on 66th Place.

The man was shot in his lower body and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, police said.

Two CPD squad cars responding to the area shortly after 4 p.m. crashed into each other a few blocks away in the 6600 block of South Lowe, police said. One officer was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
