A person was taken into custody Thursday night after shots were fired at officers in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood.

No officers were injured in the gunfire shortly before 10:30 p.m. in the 6200 block of South Maryland Avenue, according to Chicago police.

Two on-duty officers responded to a “gang disturbance” and then briefly chased someone on foot, police said. The officers heard a gunshot but didn’t return fire.

The person was arrested and two weapons were recovered, according to police. Charges were pending early Friday.
