Markese Jacobs, the city’s top basketball player in the class of 2019, decommitted from Kansas on Friday.
Jacobs gave an oral commitment to Kansas in October 2016.Jacobs, a consensus top 100 player in the country, says he still has an offer from the Jayhawks.
Jacobs had an excellent junior season at Uplift and opened eyes in Nike’s EYBL over the summer.Jacobs briefly transferred to a prep school in Arizona last summer and spent last season working his way back into coach David Taylor’s good graces. He was spectacular in a playoff loss to Orr in March, nearly leading the Titans to an overtime upset of the Class 2A state champs.
Mac Irvin Fire coach Mike Irvin says that Jacobs hasn’t talked with any other schools recently, out of respect for Kansas. Irvin expects the offers to start rolling in now.
