A man was fatally shot Thursday night in the Albany Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

About 11:15 p.m., Carlos Fabian Pagan-Guzman, 19, was walking on a sidewalk in the 5000 block of North Albany Avenue when someone exited a dark-colored SUV and opened fire, Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Pagan-Guzman was struck in his head and was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died about 12 hours later, according to authorities.

An autopsy Saturday ruled Pagan-Guzman died of a gunshot wound to the head. His death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Area North detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
