A man died Thursday after being shot in East Chicago, Indiana.

About 7:49 a.m., a resident waved down police to report an unresponsive personlyingin the resident’s backyard areain the 4000 block of Pulaski Street, according to East Chicago police.

Upon entry,officers found Isaiah Pina, 20, of Hammond, neara fence area in the resident’s house, police said.

He sufferedmultiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 8:45 a.m., according to the Lake County coroner’s office. An autopsy Friday ruled his death a homicide.

The previous night, officers detected gunshots from the area but couldnot find evidence of a shooting, police said.
