A man was killed and two other people were wounded in a shooting Friday morning in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.

All three were driving in a black Mercedes-Benz shortly before 11:40 a.m. and following a red Honda as it turned east into the 3400 block of West Walnut, according to Chicago police.

The Honda then pulled alongside their Mercedes and several people got out and began shooting into the Mercedes, police said. All three were struck multiple times.

Travis Cox, 24, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:15 p.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

A 26-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man were also taken to Stroger, where they were listed in critical condition, police said.

Area North detectives are investigating.
