A man was fatally shot Monday night in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

Levon Averhart, 42, was standing outside when two males walked up to him and one took out a handgun and fired shots at 11:46 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Winchester, according to Chicago police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Averhart suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he died, authorities said.

He lived in the South Side Gresham neighborhood.

The man, 21, was found with gunshot wounds to his back and left shoulder in the 9600 block of South Princeton Avenue about 11:35 p.m., police said.
The man, 45, was found by officers with multiple gunshot wounds in the 10700 block of South Champlain Avenue.
