Bears inside linebacker Danny Trevathan considered himself an undeserving winner. He thought several of his teammates could’ve been named the NFC defensive player of the week after the Bears’ 24-17 victory Monday night against the Seahawks.

Cornerback Prince Amukamara returned an interception 49 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Outside linebacker Khalil Mack had a sack and strip for a second consecutive week.

Defensive lineman Akiem Hicks was a force all game, making three tackles, including one for loss.

“It could happen to anyone,” Trevathan said Wednesday. “Those guys played their tails off.”

Trevathan, though, was everywhere against Seattle at Soldier Field. He had a team-best eight tackles and two sacks. His sack and strip of Russell Wilson in the fourth quarter helped preserve the win. Outside linebacker Leonard Floyd recovered the loose ball with 4:29 left.

“It’s a great feeling,” Trevathan said of the first multisack game of his career. “It just goes to show that coverage and the line are working together. That’s what you want to see, those [coverage] sacks. It’s just man to man making the play. You like to see that and build confidence in those guys.”

It’s the first time Trevathan, who’s in his seventh season, has been named defensive player of the week. Safety Eddie Jackson was the last Bear to receive the honor after his two return touchdowns against the Panthers in Week 7 last season.

“Everything is better when you win,” Trevathan said. “You get that burden off your chest; you get to be yourself all the time. When you win, everything is good, but it’s all about stacking those wins together. It’s tough in the NFC, but we’re here for the fight.”
