A man was wounded in a shooting Tuesday night inside of a residential building in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

At 9:27 p.m., the 22-year-old was in a stairwell of the building in the 5200 block of West Lake when someone shot him in his leg and lower back, according to Chicago police.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Area North detectives were investigating the shooting.
