A 17-year-oldboy died Sunday evening, hours after he was wounded in a Grand Crossing neighborhood shooting on the South Side.

About 6:05 a.m., Corty Coleman Jr. was found with two gunshot wounds to the back of his head in the 1400 block of West 77th Street, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Coleman was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, authorities said. He lived in the Roseland neighborhood.

The circumstances of the shooting weren’t immediately known. Witnesses heard gunfire but didn’t see where they came from, police said.

Area South detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
