A 52-year-old man died Sunday afternoon after being involved in a crash on Interstate 57 in south suburban Posen.

About 10:45 a.m., a pickup towing a trailer was stopped on the shoulder of northbound I-57 near 127th Street, according to Illinois State Police.

Harold Dyke, 52, was outside the pickup when a vehicle in the right lane hit the driver’s side of the truck, according to state police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The crash pushed the trailer into Dyke.

Dyke, who lived in Midlothian, was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:14 p.m., authorities said. An autopsy Monday found he died of multiple blunt force injuries from being hit by a vehicle and his death was ruled an accident.

The two people inside the pickup were not hurt in the crash, according to police. A child riding in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the pickup was cited for a moving violation, police said. Alcohol and drugs were not considered to be contributing factors in the crash.
