A 29-year-old man was fatally wounded in a shooting early Saturday in Gary, Indiana.

At 2:09 a.m., officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 5000 block of Broadway and found Kevin L. Ketona suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the doorway of abusiness, according to Gary police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Ketona told officers he was inside the business when he heard gunshots and felt a sharp pain in his back, police said.

Ketona was taken to Methodist Hospital Northlake Campus in Gary before being flown to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:30 a.m., authorities said. He lived in Gary.
