A man was shot Thursday night in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the South Side.

The 21-year-old was walking on the sidewalk when someone inside a red car fired shots at 10:52 p.m. in the 6200 block of South Artesian Avenue and was struck in the back, according to Chicago police.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and is in stable condition, police said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
