A man was shot while trying to fight off a would-be robber Friday evening in the West Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side.

The 30-year-old was on the street when someone walked up to him with a gun and demanded his possessions at 6:08 p.m. in the 6400 block of North Campbell Avenue, according to Chicago police.
