Man struck, killed by vehicle on Dan Ryan Expressway

The man, 56, was trying to run across the northbound lanes about 4:10 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle near 83rd Street, Illinois State Police said.

A man was fatally struck by a vehicle Monday while trying to cross the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side.

The man, 56, was trying to run across the northbound lanes of Interstate 94 about 4:10 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle in the far right lane near 83^rd Street, Illinois State Police said.

The man was taken to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said. The driver, a 37-year-old woman, was also hospitalized with injuries that weren’t thought to be life threatening.

Two lanes were closed as state police investigated, but they have since been reopened.
