Woman killed, another critically injured in Irving Woods crash

A 32-year-old woman behind the wheel of a blue Toyota crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a red Honda driven by an 84-year-old woman, police said.

A woman was killed and another was critically injured in a crash Tuesday in Irving Woods on the Northwest Side. 

About 10:10 a.m., a 32-year-old woman behind the wheel of a blue Toyota crossed into oncoming traffic in the 4400 block of North Cumberland Avenue and struck a red Honda, Chicago police said. 

She was taken to Resurrection Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said. 

An autopsy confirmed she died from multiple blunt force injuries from a motor vehicle crash, and her death was ruled an accident, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. She lived in Jefferson Park. 

The 84-year-old woman driving the Honda was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition, police said. 

CPD’s Major Accidents unit is investigating.
