This You Gotta See: Bears-Raiders, Sharks-Blackhawks and — hello — Zion Williamson

Which will be cooler for all the youngsters in attendance for Bulls-Pelicans at the United Center: the team with Zion Willamson and Lonzo Ball on its side, or the team with without Zion Williamson and Lonzo … you know what? Just forget the question.

SUN 6

Bears vs. Raiders (noon, Fox-32): It’s not like our friends across the pond are completely clueless about the American game of football, but how do we even begin to explain to them why it is that the Raiders let Khalil Mack get away to the Bears? Come to think of it, can anyone explain to us why it is that the Raiders let Mack get away to the Bears? But seriously: Don’t screw this up, Chase Daniel.

Colts at Chiefs (7:20 p.m., Ch. 5): Sorry, but we don’t want to hear any whining about the Andrew Luck vs. Patrick Mahomes duel that got away. There isn’t a dang thing wrong with Jacoby Brissett vs. Mahomes. This kid can play.

MON 7

Bucks at Bulls (7 p.m., NBCSCH): Look, we’re going on Year 7 of his career. If you can’t pronounce, let alone spell, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s name by now, you’re beyond help. In other news, “Tomas” is spelled without an “h” and “Satoransky” with a “y” — not an “i” — at the end. Let the preseason begin!

Browns at 49ers (7:15 p.m., ESPN): Baker Mayfield. Jimmy Garoppolo. Two teams that aren’t even the least bit terrible. Just what in the heck is happening here?

WED 9

Pelicans at Bulls (7 p.m., ESPN, NBCSCH): Which will be cooler for all the youngsters in attendance at the United Center, the team with Zion Willamson and Lonzo Ball on its side or the team with without Zion Williamson and Lonzo … you know what? Just forget the question.

THU 10

Giants at Patriots (7:20 p.m., Fox-32, NFL Network): Pats superstar Tom Brady is 7,232 days older than Giants rookie Daniel Jones, but is Brady 7,232 times better at playing quarterback? Give it up to Jones for being a lot more than met the skeptics’ eyes coming out of Duke. All he really has to now is beat Brady and the Pats twice in the Super Bowl and the takeover from Eli Manning will be complete.

Sharks at Blackhawks (7:30 p.m., NBCSCH): There’s been plenty of time to get over the jetlag post-Prague. So get out there and Czech somebody, will you?

FRI 11

NLCS Game 1 (time TBD, TBS): The Dodgers and Cardinals struck first in the divisional round, but there was a whole lot of baseball left in each series. Since we don’t know the NLCS matchup yet, let’s just take a minute to remember a little Game 1 grand slam by Miguel Montero in 2016, shall we?

SAT 12

Oklahoma vs. Texas (11 a.m., Fox-32): Nothing beats the annual Red River rivalry game played at Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas amid the Texas State Fair. And, no, we don’t mean the Cotton Bowl as in Jerry Jones’ monstrous edifice in Arlington, Texas; that’s where the postseason Cotton Bowl is played. We mean the actual, old-school Cotton Bowl, which magically comes to life when the Sooners and Longhorns go at it.

USC at Notre Dame (6:30 p.m., Ch. 5): The Irish are looking for their first three-game winning streak in the Jeweled Shillelagh series since 1999 to 2001. That one was followed by an eight-game losing streak that’s remembered by ex-coaches Tyrone Willingham and Charlie Weis as the Let’s Not Talk About It years.

ALCS Game 1 (time TBD, Fox-32 or FS1): The Astros and the Yankees seemed all regular season long to be on a collision course. Last time they collided, in the 2017 ALCS, it resulted in a seven-game classic.
