Trio accused of stealing phones, tablets from Roselle Verizon store

Three people are facing felony charges after allegedly breaking into a Verizon store Tuesday in northwest suburban Roselle.

Denzel Irons, 22, Leo Edwards, 25, and 19-year-old Demyrah Nance are each charged with one count of burglary, according to the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.

Irons was also charged with felony criminal damage to property, possession of burglary tools and obstructing a peace officer, the state’s attorney’s office said. Irons and Edwards live in Chicago and are on parole out of Cook County.

Around 2 a.m., the trio pulled up to the store, located at 1440 W. Lake St., and Irons allegedly smashed the glass front door with a hammer, prosecutors said. He then allegedly stole items including cellphones and tablets.

Nance allegedly drove the group from the scene after the robbery, prosecutors said. They were stopped and taken into custody by Hanover Park police a short time later.

Irons, Edwards and Nance are being held at the DuPage County Jail on $50,000, $30,000 and $10,000 bond respectively, the state’s attorney’s office said.

Irons is due in court Dec. 9, Nance Dec. 10 and Edwards Dec. 11.
