A Dolton man who crashed his vehicle was charged with several misdemeanors after allegedly threatening paramedics Thursday in East Side.

The crash happened about 11:40 p.m. in the 10700 block of South Avenue D, Chicago police said. Byron McCray, 37, was driving a BMW east about 11:40 p.m. on 107th Street when he struck a median and flipped the vehicle onto its side.

He was taken to South Shore Hospital where his condition was stabilized, police said. The man was placed into custody for threatening paramedics on the way to the hospital.

His passenger, a 34-year-old man, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

McCray was charged with multiple misdemeanors, including driving under the influence and assault, police said. He was also cited for failure to reduce speed and transportation of alcohol.
