After years of standing by R. Kelly, one of the embattled R&B singer’s girlfriends allegedly stepped forward with allegations of abuse in November. She spoke out weeks later to say the accounts were falsified.

After years of standing by R. Kelly, one of the embattled R&B singer’s girlfriends appeared to step forward in November with allegations of sexual and psychological abuse.

Accounts purporting to belong to Joycelyn Savage on Instagram and Patreon, an online platform that requires users to pay for content, posted announcements that Savage wanted to share her stories of mistreatment by Robert Kelly.

The Patreon account wasshut down soon after when the host site could not confirm the user’s identity, and in early December, Savage asserted that the allegations were false, that the posts had been made by someone impersonating her, and that she “would never in a million years hurt [Kelly] like this.”

An attorney representing Savage’s family said that “although we can now verify that it wasn’t her account, the allegations still remain.” Earlier this year, Jonjelyn and Timothy Savage claimed Kelly “brainwashed” their daughter into staying with him.

Kelly, 52, whose real name is Robert Kelly, is charged in federal court in Illinois with 13 counts around child pornography, enticing a minor into illegal sexual activity and conspiracy to obstruct justice. He also faces federal charges in New York and local cases in Minnesota and Cook County — all of which involve sex crimes against minors.
