Moon Alert

Until 9:30 p.m. Chicago time, we have the all clear to shop and do business. The moon is in Capricorn.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Some serious overtones are at play. For starters, this is not a great day to ask permission from bosses, parents, teachers and the police. Their answer will likely be, “Talk to the hand.” Forewarned is forearmed.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Avoid controversial discussions about politics, religion and racial issues because they will become heavy-handed and didactic. Who needs this? Not you. Be patient with partners and close friends while Mars is opposite your sign. (This lasts until January. Yikes!)

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

You might feel overwhelmed by obligations with debt and your responsibilities to others. Easy to do. Don’t be overwhelmed by this situation. Remember that whatever you do in life, you do it by making one decision at a time. One thing at a time. This makes things doable.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Relations with partners and close friends are a bit sticky, especially if someone is older or they have more experience than you. (“What am I? Chopped liver?”) Despite the strains of relating to someone close to you, you are still in a playful mood.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

This might not be an easy day at work because a boss or someone in a position of authority will ask you to account for yourself. Ironically, you were probably trying to introduce improvements or make things run more smoothly. (Is there no justice?) Courage.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Children might be an increased responsibility. In addition, social occasions and sports events might also make demands on your time and energy, as well as your pocketbook. Cope as best you can. (Hide at home if possible.)

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Family discussions might be tense because someone in a position of authority or someone who is more experienced might lord it over you. (“I know everything — you know bupkis.”) Don’t take this seriously. Everyone is having trouble dealing with authority figures today. Even authority figures.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

It’s Friday; nevertheless, you find it easy to fall into worry mode. Oy vey. Try not to go there. Most of the things we worry about never happen. It’s the things you never think about that will get ya. (Just kidding.) “Worry is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but gets you nowhere.”

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Well, the money has run out, but, fortunately, it’s the end of the month. Do what you can to get by until you can make ends meet. Even though sometimes ends don’t meet, we all know this. (If you save a little every day, at the end of a year, you’ll be surprised at how little you have.)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

You’re in a serious frame of mind, and that’s just fine. However, do be aware that things can appear to be worse than they are. Therefore, lighten up. “Look on the bright side of life. ...” (Remember Monty Python?)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

You might impress a boss, parent or someone in a position of authority with your research or your behind-the-scenes efforts. They view you as sensible, realistic and reliable, which means this is a good day for a practical discussion with power figures.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

It’s Friday; and yet, ironically this is an excellent day to study as well as work hard in areas related to medicine, the law, higher education, publishing and travel. Discussions about politics and religion will be serious.

If Your Birthday Is Today

Actor Don Cheadle (1964) shares your birthday. You are honest and warm and have a strong curiosity about things. Because this is a year of teaching and learning, you will learn something that sets you in a new direction, which could be crucial for your success next year. Why not explore meditation, yoga or any discipline that will help you to get a better understanding of who you are? Explore something new.
