The rankings held pretty firm and the weirdness won’t happen until next week. It’s too early to keep teams that are out of the playoffs in the Super 25, so Maine South and Hinsdale Central are gone. That probably changes next week though, with so many of the best teams in the area playing each other in the second round.

Dropping out

Hinsdale Central (8-2): Keep an eye on the the Red Devils next season. Quarterback Michael Brescia is just a junior and was very impressive in the loss to Glenbard West. Turns out Hinsdale Central didn’t beat any teams still ranked, so this wasn’t the most difficult decision.

Maine South (7-3): It was a strange season for Maine South. The Hawks had their moments Saturday night against Loyola but things just didn’t fall their way.

New additions

Bolingbrook (7-3): Wow. The Raiders destroyed Hinsdale Central 42-13 and they are back and in the top ten again. I guess the Andrew loss is forgiven. I like their chances against Oswego in the second round as well.

Cary-Grove (8-2): The Trojans are in the second round after beating St. Ignatius 41-13. They will be the favorite against Antioch at home and would face the Simeon/Prairie Ridge winner in the quarterfinals.
