Man killed in Lockport crash on Thanksgiving

The man, 36, was driving north in the southbound lanes about 7:25 p.m. when he crashed into a 2012 Ford F-series on Route 53, just south of Renwick Road, Illinois State Police said.

A Joliet man died after driving head-on into another vehicle on Thanksgiving Day in southwest suburban Lockport.

The man, 36, was driving his 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse north in the southbound lanes about 7:25 p.m. when he crashed straight into a 2012 Ford F-Series on Route 53, just south of Renwick Road, Illinois State Police said.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene, state police said. The other driver, a 33-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital.

The 33-year-old is expected to survive his injuries, state police said.

Illinois State Police are investigating.
