Woman dies months after Lake View high-rise fire

An 85-year-old woman has died from complications months after she was hurt in a Lake View fire that also injured two officers and another senior.

Ann DeGrazia was pronounced dead Nov. 2 at Weiss Memorial Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy found she died of complications of thermal injuries from an April 27 fire, the medical examiner’s office said.

The fire broke out about noon on the fifth floor of a high-rise building in the in the 3300 block of North Lake Shore Drive, Chicago Fire Dept. officials said at the time.

Two officers who responded were taken to hospitals in good condition, as well two senior citizens who were listed in critical and serious conditions, officials said. The fire was extinguished within an hour.

A fire department spokesman did not immediately respond Thursday with an update on the investigation in the fire.

The medical examiner’s office ruled her death as accidental.
