What would Sen. John McCain do?

The late Senator John McCain. You remember him, don’t you?

He was the honorable Republican senator from Arizona, who this country held in such high regard that we named a United States Naval Vessel after him (the U.S.S. John S. McCain).

He was a man who retired from the Navy with a chest full of medals in recognition to his heroic service to our beloved country.

He was a man who spent his life after military service in distinguished service to our nation in the U.S. House and Senate, representing the people of Arizona and his party.

I have little doubt how McCain would vote on this impeachment trial.

His love, reverence and respect of America and the Constitution were legendary, only just beneath his love of God and family. His wife Cindy and family, may dispute that order.

I would ask the Republicans of the U.S. Senate to vote with their conscience, but they have clearly demonstrated that they have none.

So, I will ask our U.S. senators to vote for their love and respect for our U.S. Constitution, the very document defining whom and what we are as Americans.

If you fail to convict President Donald J. Trump on the hard cold evidence of his grave violations of our U.S. Constitution, I ask that your first order of business after the impeachment hearings be the drafting and passing of a Constitutional Amendment allowing for the peaceful secession of States from this Union.

I do not wish to live in a fiefdom where the monarch uses our Constitution as a door mat.

The demise of baseball

With all the ridiculous and obscene high-priced contracts offered to present Major League Baseball players, the demise of attendance at the ball parks seems imminent.

Even journeymen players with mediocre statistics are commanding millions, all at the expense of the sucker fans. And today, going forward, home-bound fans must pay a cable service to watch almost any kind of sports.

As a senior, I believe this debacle will be dealt with by the millennial generation, or will be adding to the downfall of Western sports culture.
