A woman was fatally struck by a vehicle Dec. 5, 2019, in the area of 127th Street and California Avenue in Blue Island.

A woman was killed after she was hit by a vehicle Thursday in south suburban Blue Island.

Authorities responded about 6 p.m. to the area of 127th Street and California Avenue and learned the 60-year-old had been struck by a passing vehicle, according to Blue Island police. 

She was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she was pronounced dead, police said. 

An autopsy Friday found the woman died of multiple injuries from the collision and ruled her death an accident, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Police said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and “showed no signs of impairment.” 

Blue Island police and the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team were investigating.
