Jan. 30 was a day to remember for its historic cold around Chicago.

Mathew Dlouhymade it a day to remember in ice fishing.

He didn’t let the heart of the Polar Vortex stop him ice fishing last Wednesday.

Yes, I was impressed and wanted this FOTW for the sake of history.

FOTW, the celebration of big fish and their stories around Chicago outdoors, runs Wednesdays on the Sun-Times’ outdoors page. Submit nominations on Facebook (Dale Bowman), on Twitter (@BowmanOutside) or email (straycasts@sbcglobal.net).
