Officials have identified the man who was shot to death Sunday night in Gary, Indiana.

Authorities were called at 9:10 p.m. for reports of a man down in the 2400 block of Jennings Street in Gary, according to a statement from Gary police.

They arrived to find 69-year-old Wayne Valentine lying on the ground near a vehicle with “no signs of life,” police and the Lake County coroner’s office said.

Valentine, who lived in Lake Station, Indiana, was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner’s office said. An autopsy found he died of gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.
