A 47-year-old man was shot and killed Sunday morning at his home in south suburban Harvey.

At 7:32 a.m., officers found Jose. J. Carbajal suffering from a gunshot wound to the head at the home in the 400 block of West 151st Street, according to Harvey Police Chief Greg Thomas and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Carbajal was pronounced dead less than a half hour later.

An investigation revealed that Carbajal was shot after answering his door, Thomas said. Three males were seen fleeing the scene.

An autopsy Monday found Carbajal died from the gunshot wound to his head and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.
