A man was shot and critically wounded Tuesday afternoon in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

The 33-year-old was walking at 3:33 p.m. in the 5200 block of South Paulina when someone approached and fired shots, striking him multiple times, according to Chicago police. The shooter then ran off.

The man was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
