A man was fatally shot Friday evening in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

A witness told investigators 24-year-old Antwon T. Fields was walking about 7:15 p.m. in the 7400 block of South Harvard Avenue when a dark-colored car drove up and someone inside fired shots, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Fields was struck in the head and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died, authorities said. He lived in the Greater Grand Crossing community.

Area South detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
