A man was shot and killed Thursday evening in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

Eric Bowman, 21, walked out of a business about 6:45 p.m. and got into the passenger seat of a vehicle in the 1000 block of North Lawler Avenue, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

A silver-colored car pulled up behind him and someone fired shots, police said.

Bowman, who lived in Austin, was shot twice in the chest and the arm, authorities said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:22 p.m.

Police are conducting a homicide investigation.
