A man was shot and killed Friday afternoon in the Irving Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

Officers responded about 3:05 p.m. to a call of a person shot in the 4000 block of West Cullom and found 20-year-old Zakaria Hadik on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to his left eye, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Hadik was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died about a half hour later, authorities said. He lived in the Budlong Woods neighborhood.

Police initially said someone was arrested in connection with the shooting, but said later Friday that no one was in custody.

Area North Detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
