Man fatally shot in Skokie

A man was shot to death Monday in Skokie.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired about 8:45 p.m in the 4700 block of Main Street, Skokie police said. Upon arrival, officers found Edward James, 22, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

James was taken to Skokie Hospital where he died about 30 minutes later, the medical examiner’s office said.

Police said the shooting was an “isolated incident” and investigators do not believe there is a threat to the general public. The incident remains under investigation by Skokie police and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force.
