A man was wounded after accidentally shooting himself Friday in Ravenswood on the North Side.

He was found in an alley in the 2200 block of West Montrose Street about 4:12 a.m. with an gunshot wound to the leg, Chicago police said.

The man, 49, was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

Police initially reported that the man had been shot by someone else.
