A man was fatally shot in an apartment stairwell Friday in Bronzeville on the South Side.

Demondre Shamon Grandberry, 22, was found about 6:20 p.m. in the 3800 block of South Michigan Avenue, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He had a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

An autopsy found that Grandberry, who lived in West Pullman, died of a gunshot wound to his head, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
