A 17-year-old was killed after his motorcycle was hit by a pickup truck last week in northwest Indiana.

Clayton Curtis Gaudry stopped his motorcycle to turn left into a driveway about 9:30 p.m. on May 7 when he was struck by a pickup truck from behind, the Lake County sheriff’s department said. The crash happened in the 5300 block of US 231 in Crown Point.

Gaudry and the driver were taken to St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, the sheriff’s office said. Gaudry was flown to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died four days later on May 11, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy found that Gaudry died of blunt force injuries from a collision between a motorcycle and a truck, the medical examiner’s office said.

The driver of the truck, an 85-year-old man from south suburban Monee, was treated for his injuries and released, the sheriff’s office said. Alcohol was not suspected as a cause of the crash.

The Lake County sheriff’s office is still investigating the crash. There was no word about possible charges or citations.
