A person was killed and two others seriously injured in a crash Thursday in west suburban Naperville.

A Nissan was traveling south on Naperville Boulevard at Washington Street about 8:45 a.m. when it was struck by a Hyundai traveling the opposite way, Naperville police said in a statement.

The crash seriously injured the driver of the Hyundai, a 64-year-old woman from Bolingbrook, and the occupants of the Nissan, a 61-year-old male driver and a 59-year-old female passenger from Lisle, police said.

All three were taken to hospitals, where one of them died, police said.

Naperville police did say which of the three people was killed. A spokesperson for the department did not immediately reply to a request for clarification.

The intersection was closed for an investigation by the Naperville Traffic Unit until 12:38 p.m., police said. Any witnesses were asked to call police at 630-420-8833.

It was unclear if citations or charges were filed.
